In a recent development, Stirling Council has given the green light for Morrisons supermarket in Stirling to introduce a new EV charging hub and jet wash bays, with plans to remove nearly 40 existing parking spaces. The approval is part of an application by Motor Fuel Group for the installation of a charging zone, EV chargers, canopy, jet wash bays, and associated equipment within the car park of the supermarket located at Springkerse Retail Park.
The decision by the council planners comes with certain conditions, stating that the proposed works will entail the removal of approximately 38 parking bays. The EV charging canopy is set to be approximately 5.3 metres high and extend 32 metres north-west, while the jet wash bay canopy will measure about 3.5 metres in height and 14 metres in length, with the jet wash bays spanning a total length of around 19 metres. Ancillary power supplies and utilities will be housed in standard cabinetry, including a substation measuring 2.8 metres in length, width, and 2.7 metres in height.
The location of the supermarket is surrounded by various retail establishments, such as shops and fast-food drive-through units, along with auto-industry businesses such as car rental, sales, and repair shops along Kerse Road. Positioned near the A91, an important route linking the east side of Stirling to the M9 in the south and onwards to St Andrews in the north-east.
