Body found in search for Scot who vanished from coastal town six days ago

A body has been discovered in the search for a Scottish man who went missing from a coastal town six days ago. John Geddes, aged 33, was last seen in Lossiemouth on Monday. He disappeared from the Coulardhill area of the Moray town at around 10.30 pm. Police Scotland has confirmed that a body has been found in the vicinity of Lossiemouth. The A941 road near the town is currently closed between the B9103 and the B9135 following the discovery of the body on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at approximately 4.10 pm.

Formal identification of the body is yet to take place, but officers have informed John’s family after expressing growing concerns for his welfare. Search efforts involved lifeboat crews from Portsoy, Buckie, Burghead, and Macduff, along with a Coastguard helicopter from Inverness, scouring parts of the Moray coastline. Described as having brown hair, slim build, and around 5ft 8in tall, John was last seen wearing blue Adidas trainers, black trousers with reflective orange strips, and a khaki green fleece.

Constable Rachael Devenney urged the public to come forward with any information on John’s whereabouts as concerns for his safety increased over time. Assistance was provided by HM Coastguard, deploying personnel and resources to aid in the search effort following a report of concern made in the early hours of November 12.
