Rangers heroes send schoolboy scarred for life in XL Bully attack heartwarming letter

Rangers Heroes Reach Out to Schoolboy Scarred in XL Bully Attack

A heartwarming gesture has touched the life of Teddy Kerr, a schoolboy left scarred for life following a vicious attack by an XL Bully. Teddy had to undergo facial reconstruction after the ferocious beast tore into his head and body at a house in Paisley earlier this month. The incident, which took place on Sunday, November 4, left the five-year-old with life-changing injuries, requiring over 100 stitches.

In a show of support and kindness, Teddy received a special gift from his beloved Rangers football club, including a personal letter from team captain James Tavernier. Along with the letter, Teddy was also gifted two tickets to watch a Rangers match against Dundee United at Ibrox, as well as a personalised replica of this season’s third kit with “Teddy 5” printed on the back.

The letter from Tavernier expressed the club’s solidarity with Teddy, acknowledging his love for Rangers and the challenges he has faced. A heartwarming video captured Teddy’s emotional reaction, where he expressed his gratitude to Tavernier.

The initiative began when Marion Hanratty, a season ticket holder at Ibrox, shared Teddy’s story with fellow supporters online. A member of the stadium’s security team learned about Teddy’s brave recovery and arranged for the club’s gesture of goodwill.

Marion expressed the profound impact of the Rangers’ gift on Teddy, mentioning that he smiled for the first time in weeks upon receiving the letter. The show of support not only lifted Teddy’s spirits but also restored his excitement for life, especially looking forward to visiting Ibrox and seeing his hero, James Tavernier.

Teddy, who was discharged from the hospital four days after the attack, is now on the path to recovery at home. Despite the challenges he faces ahead, Teddy’s classmates at Langcraigs Primary School have showered him with personal get-well cards, showing their unwavering support.

The attack that occurred in the presence of Teddy’s siblings led to the destruction of the dog responsible, and a 41-year-old man was charged in connection with the incident. Teddy’s journey to healing continues, but with the outpouring of love and support from his community and his favourite football club, he is finding the strength to face each day with renewed hope and courage.
