An international manhunt has been launched to find Pankaj Lamba, who is suspected of dumping his wife, Harshita Brella’s body in a silver Vauxhall Corsa before driving it 100 miles from their home in Corby, Northants and abandoning the vehicle in Ilford, east London before fleeing the country. CCTV footage shows Lamba strolling past a police car and members of the public with a large rucksack shortly after the alleged murder.
Authorities believe Harshita was killed on the evening of Sunday, November 10, with Lamba suspected of strangling her. Her body was found on Thursday, November 14, and an international manhunt was initiated four days later. Detectives are urging anyone who may have seen Lamba between Sunday morning and Monday evening to come forward with information to assist in bringing justice for Harshita.
Harshita’s sister, Sonia Dabas, revealed that Harshita had faced physical and mental harm in her marriage to Lamba and had sought help from the police, obtaining a court order against him for a limited period. The family is now calling on both the UK and Indian governments to swiftly capture Lamba to ensure justice for Harshita.
Despite initially being excited about moving to the UK after their traditional Indian marriage in March, Harshita later fled from Lamba due to alleged physical abuse. Her family recounts the challenges she faced in her marriage, including restrictions on her activities and communication. Their plea is for authorities to locate Lamba and bring him to justice for Harshita’s death.
