Former Falkirk Nightclub Transformed into Exclusive Events Venue
A former nightclub in Falkirk is undergoing a major transformation into a private functions venue that will cater exclusively to events such as weddings and conferences. The Depot, formerly known as the Martell and Temple, located at 1 Burnbank Road, Falkirk, has been granted permission to alter its licence to accommodate these new changes by the Falkirk Council’s licensing board.
During a recent visit to the venue, board members observed the revamped layout, with a spacious function hall that can be divided into two separate halls. The board determined that certain conditions previously required for nightclub operations, like a dispersal policy, are no longer essential for the new function hall setting to minimize disorder and public disturbances upon exiting the premises.
Under the updated licence, The Depot will be operational from 10 am to midnight daily, except Fridays and Saturdays when it can operate until 1 am. Children and young people will now be permitted on the premises for pre-booked events, and young individuals will also have the opportunity to work in serving capacities for food.
The owner, Alan Milliken, emphasised that the venue will solely be open for private functions that are pre-booked, targeting events such as weddings, anniversaries, and birthday celebrations aimed at families. He clarified that while children are welcome to attend functions, there are no intentions to organise events specifically for children. Additionally, the venue will provide conference facilities for bookings.
The application for the licence variations was unanimously approved by the board, with Provost Robert Bissett commending the positive changes witnessed during their site visit. He expressed excitement about the prospect of a new kind of venue in Falkirk and praised the business’ future plans.
