A Scottish man, James Rae, has been sentenced to eight months in prison after causing chaos on a TUI flight from Glasgow to Antalya in Turkey. Due to Rae’s actions, the flight had to be diverted to Newcastle, resulting in a five-hour delay for passengers. Additionally, the return flight from Antalya to Glasgow was delayed by 17 hours, costing the flight operator a substantial amount of money.
During the trial at Newcastle Crown Court, it was revealed that Rae, who had consumed gin and Jagermeister, was so intoxicated that he had to be carried off the plane upon landing.
