A new wave of aspiring nurses from Stirling University have recently graduated, with a significant number being recruited by NHS Forth Valley. The graduation ceremonies at the university saw around 220 student nurses completing their studies, and over half of them have been offered positions within NHS Forth Valley. Additionally, other graduating nurses will be taking up roles in various NHS health boards, including Lothian, Fife, and Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
NHS Forth Valley’s Executive Nurse Director, Professor Frances Dodd, and Director of Nursing, Professor Karen Goudie, were present to celebrate with the graduates. Professor Dodd expressed her delight at the high number of graduate nurses who have chosen to kickstart their careers with NHS Forth Valley. She highlighted the dedicated support provided by local staff to nursing students throughout their education and practical training.
The partnership between Stirling University and NHS Forth Valley, established in 2022, has played a pivotal role in nurturing these nursing talents. Known as the Forth Valley University College NHS Partnership, it is the first formal regional collaboration of its kind in Scotland, focusing on learning, careers, research, and innovation.
Professor Ashley Shepherd, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Sport at Stirling University, commended the graduating student nurses for their hard work and dedication in obtaining their degrees.
