Helping Hard-Up Families in Wishaw Area this Christmas
There is still time for you to contribute and make a difference for struggling families in the Wishaw area this Christmas. Since 2021, Pathway Church in the town has been collaborating with MADE4U IN ML2 for their annual community Christmas Toy Drive to support children in the ML2 area. This year, the aim is to provide even more toys to families facing financial difficulties amidst the deepening cost of living crisis.
The church has already launched its Sparkle and Shine shop, offering preloved Christmas jumpers, party outfits, and PJs for children up to 14 years old, available to families in need. The response has been overwhelming, with over 100 families benefiting from the initiative. Additionally, local businesses and community groups have shown great support, with Asda in Newmains setting up a donation trolley and making deliveries to aid the cause.
Gillian Davie, a volunteer at the church, expressed gratitude for the public’s response, highlighting the impact of their donations in helping over 1170 children by the end of 2023. The toy drive deadline is set for Friday, November 29. Two drop-off locations are available this year: the Pathway Church Hub at Unit 3, 14 King Street or the MADE4U premises in Greenfield Drive. For those unable to drop off in person, donations can also be made via email or through the church’s Facebook page.
