Start Up Stirling, a foodbank charity based in Stirling, is launching a festive appeal to bring some Christmas cheer to those in need this winter. The charity aims to raise £420,000 to fund its services in 2025 and is asking for financial support from the community. Donations made by eligible individuals are eligible for an additional 25% from the Government through Gift Aid. In addition to monetary contributions, Start Up Stirling is running a Reverse Advent Calendar initiative where essential food items can be donated to support their Crisis Food Support parcels during the winter months.
The charity is also hosting the Big 2024 Christmas Draw as part of its 30th-anniversary celebrations, offering various prizes such as jewellery, afternoon teas, and vouchers. Donors can participate by purchasing tickets for the draw. Gift vouchers or cash donations can be made online through Start Up Stirling’s website. Giving Trees are set up in Stirling’s Thistles shopping centre, providing shoppers with the opportunity to purchase essential items for those in need. Additionally, various events such as the annual Food Drive at Tesco Superstore and a Christmas Coffee, Lunch, and Crafts Event are being held to raise awareness and collect donations for the charity.
Businesses and organizations can also get involved by hosting Start Up Donation Stations or contributing to the cause in other creative ways. Start Up Stirling’s office is open on weekdays for those seeking more information or wishing to make donations. The charity encourages community members to support their initiatives and make a difference in the lives of individuals facing food insecurity this winter.
This winter, Start Up Stirling’s festive appeal aims to bring hope and support to those experiencing hardship, highlighting the importance of community involvement and compassion during the holiday season. As the charity works towards funding its essential services and providing food assistance to those in need, the generosity and support of individuals and businesses can make a meaningful impact on the lives of vulnerable members of the community. Let’s come together to spread warmth and kindness this winter and ensure that everyone has access to the support they need during challenging times.
