Wishaw Hospital Staff Celebrate One-Year Anniversary of eTrauma System Implementation by Planting a Tree
In a symbolic gesture marking the successful implementation of the eTrauma system across NHS Lanarkshire, staff at Wishaw General Hospital recently planted a new tree on the hospital grounds. The Trauma Tree was planted by Oliver Bailey, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Jillian Duddy, Trauma Liaison Nurse, and Stephen Grant, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the eTrauma system’s launch.
Bailey expressed his enthusiasm for the impact of the eTrauma system on trauma care, stating, “The eTrauma system has been a game-changer for how we manage trauma care. It has significantly improved patient care, efficiency, and reduced our environmental footprint.” The implementation of the eTrauma system has streamlined the management of over 8000 new referrals annually, saving an impressive 50,000 pages of printed paper each year.
Duddy praised the system for enhancing patient care and communication among healthcare sites, highlighting the positive impact on both patients and the environment. The Trauma Tree, with three stems, symbolises the unification of NHS Lanarkshire’s acute sites, representing a cohesive trauma service that has made NHS Lanarkshire one of the busiest trauma units in Scotland.
