However, Dumfries and Galloway Council took to Facebook to alert the public that these texts are fraudulent and not sent by any legitimate organisation or partner. The council emphasised, “These messages are NOT from us or any of our partner organisations – they are scams. Do not click any links in these messages.” To combat such scams, individuals are advised to forward any suspicious texts to Ofcom at 7726 free of charge.
