Staff at Shotts care home thanked by family for fantastic care to late mum and gran

Staff at Rosehall Care Home in Shotts have been commended by a Newmains family for their exceptional care towards a beloved mother and grandmother during her final months. Catherine Allen and Yvonne Brodie nominated the hard-working colleagues at the care home through the weekly Say it with Flowers competition. The family expressed gratitude for the loving care provided to Catherine’s mum, Sadie Allen, who became a resident at Rosehall in December the previous year.

Yvonne shared, “She went into Rosehall in December last year and we honestly didn’t think that she would see Christmas. She had been in hospital and although she was coming out she was still very poorly. However, you could tell even in the first 24 hours she was already improving. All the staff were so good with her; they were absolutely brilliant and went above and beyond to help my gran.”

After contacting the news outlet to highlight the exceptional work of the Rosehall staff, the family was able to present them with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Sadie passed away at the age of 82 with her family beside her. Yvonne added, “The staff made sure that we were all there and were there to make her as comfortable as possible. She was pain-free, and the staff gave us lots of time with her before she passed away.”

Describing Sadie as family-orientated and hardworking, Yvonne spoke fondly of her grandmother’s dedication to her family and community. Sadie was well-known in the Harthill community for owning the drapers and wool shop and for always being there for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

The compassionate care provided by the staff at Rosehall Care Home not only brought comfort to Sadie in her final days but also eased the burden on her family. The dedication and kindness shown by the caregivers have left a lasting impact on the family, who are grateful for the exceptional support and care their loved one received during her time at the care home.
