Plans have been submitted to construct nearly 300 new homes on the outskirts of Dumfries. Wheatley Homes South, a social housing landlord, is moving forward with the development of Catherinefield Farm in Heathhall following several public consultations. This initiative follows Wheatley’s recent completion of 89 affordable homes in a £22.9 million project at the former Curries Yard depot nearby.
Documents filed with the council outline the proposal for 296 houses, comprising 234 affordable homes, including 30 mid-market rental properties, as well as 30 private residences. Additionally, the development plans include 32 homes designated for individuals over the age of 55 as part of the Livingwell scheme – a first for Wheatley in southern Scotland.
