Stirling to Host Tribute Events for Late Frightened Rabbit Singer Scott Hutchison
Stirling’s Tolbooth will host two sold-out gigs this weekend to pay tribute to the memory of Scott Hutchison, the lead singer of the indie rock band Frightened Rabbit. The events, named ‘Sing The Greys’, will take place on December 6 and 7, in collaboration with Tiny Changes, a charity established in honour of Scott who tragically passed away in May 2018. Tiny Changes aims to invest £1 million by 2026 in the mental health of thousands of children and young people in Scotland.

The performances will feature a lineup of talented musicians influenced by Scott, including Kathryn Joseph, Ross Leighton, Tommy Reilly, James Yorkston, Karine Polwart, Raveloe, Djanna Gabrielle, and Scott William Urquhart. Joe Rattray, the bassist of Admiral Fallow, will lead the house band, while the event will be hosted by Ally McCrae, former Radio 1 and BBC Introducing DJ.

David Weaver, Cultural Venues Programmer at Stirling Council, expressed excitement for the celebration, highlighting Frightened Rabbit’s global musical impact. He praised the participating artists for their enthusiasm and musical talent. Stirling Council’s Artistic Director and Venues Manager, Tara McLoughlin, emphasised the community spirit reflected in Frightened Rabbit’s legacy, aligning with Tolbooth’s vision of unity through music.

Kara Olayinka, CEO of Tiny Changes, expressed gratitude for the support and awareness raised through these tribute nights. The collaboration between Stirling Council, participating artists, and the charity aims to honour Scott’s memory while advocating for youth mental health alongside Action in Mind.

The poignant event is set to be a heartfelt tribute to Scott Hutchison and a celebration of the enduring influence of Frightened Rabbit’s music. As the gigs promise to resonate with fans and musicians alike, the Stirling community anticipates a night of remembrance, music, and support for mental health initiatives.
