A hard-hitting campaign has been launched to tackle drink and drug driving in Dumfries and Galloway during the festive season. The region saw 55 offences recorded in the previous festive period, prompting Police Scotland and the Scottish Government to join forces in a bid to crack down on offenders who put themselves and others at risk by driving under the influence.
Officers now have the capability to conduct roadside drug tests using a swap, making it more efficient to catch those breaking the law. Chief Superintendent Hilary Sloan, head of road policing, emphasized the relentless efforts of the police in targeting drivers who opt to drive under the influence.
