Stirling Council has shared details regarding bin collections in Stirling over the upcoming festive period, urging residents to recycle as much as possible. There will be temporary adjustments to the bin collection schedule, with no waste and recycling collections on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day, and January 2. Residents affected by these changes can find their new collection dates on the online postcode finder.
During the week of December 23-29 and December 30-January 5, there will be no brown bin or blue bin collections to prioritize grey and green bin collections. Brown bin collections will resume on January 6, while blue bin collections will restart on January 27. Residents are encouraged to ‘wash and squash’ items to maximize space in the blue bins. Excess waste and recycling can be taken to Household Waste Recycling Centres at Lower Polmaise, Balfron, and Callander.
The Household Waste Recycling Centres will operate under winter hours but will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day, and January 2. Access to the recycling centers will require a booking. The council has also informed of temporary adjustments to some commercial waste collections to accommodate the festive season. The council has thanked residents and businesses for their cooperation during these changes and wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
It is recommended to place standard paper, wrapping paper, and gift cards in the green recycling bin. Wrapping paper or gift cards containing foil, glitter, ribbons, or felt coatings should be placed in the grey bin. Real Christmas trees can be recycled in the garden waste skips at the recycling centers or chopped up and placed in the brown bin with a valid garden waste permit.
Residents are reminded that the council recycling centers at Lower Polmaise, Callander, and Balfron are available for excess paper or cardboard during the festive period. The council encourages recycling, especially during a time of increased waste production at home.
In summary, Stirling Council has announced temporary adjustments to bin collections over the festive period, with changes to collection dates and prioritization of grey and green bin collections. Residents are encouraged to recycle as much as possible and utilize the Household Waste Recycling Centres for excess waste and recycling. Commercial waste customers will receive individual letters regarding their collection adjustments. Let’s all do our part to keep Stirling clean and sustainable during this holiday season.
