Three individuals, Grant Hunter, Emma McVie, and Gary Robertson, are set to face trial for the shooting of gangster Marc Webley outside a pub in Edinburgh. The incident occurred on Hogmanay last year, resulting in the death of the 38-year-old victim at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary on January 1, 2024. The trio faces charges of murder and attempted murder, with accusations of links to serious organised crime.
In addition to the murder charges, the defendants are accused of attempting to pervert the course of justice by destroying evidence related to the shooting. Further allegations include the disposal of a handgun and financial transactions to facilitate the crimes. Hunter, apart from the shooting incident, faces additional charges of reckless discharge of a loaded pistol and involvement in fire attacks in Edinburgh.
During a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow, Hunter, McVie, and Robertson appeared in court with their legal representation. While guilty pleas were offered for some charges, they were rejected by prosecutors. The trial, set to begin in November 2025 in Edinburgh and presided over by Lord Mulholland, is expected to last up to 15 days. The prosecution will be led by Advocate depute Graeme Jessop KC.
