Stirling College Students Host Christmas Craft Fair to Support Hospice
Students with additional support needs at Forth Valley College in Stirling are gearing up to raise funds for Strathcarron Hospice through a Christmas Craft and Market Fair. The event, happening on December 11, will showcase handmade items crafted by the students themselves, as well as donations generously contributed by other college students.
The Lifestart students, who are part of Supported Education courses, have put together a range of products for sale, including Christmas candle holders, movie munchie boxes, tree decorations, cushions, and more. Lifestart is a program designed for young adults with additional support needs, focusing on developing independent living skills and community involvement.
Angela MacLeod, a lecturer at the college, expressed excitement about the upcoming fair and encouraged staff, students, and visitors to attend. The event will run from 11.30am to 1pm at the Stirling Campus, where attendees are urged to bring cash for purchases to allow the Lifestart students to practice money handling skills. Additionally, donations for Strathcarron Hospice are welcomed at the fair.
As part of their fundraising efforts, the students are also hosting a raffle with a bike generously donated by their Additional Support Worker, Evelyn Burgess, as the grand prize. Raffle tickets can be purchased for £3 at the Stirling reception, with the draw scheduled for December 11.
The students selected Strathcarron Hospice as the beneficiary of their fundraising as it has provided significant support to families in the Forth Valley area.
