A young father has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after being caught with child abuse images. Ross Easton was also found to have been exchanging intimate photos with a young girl. Hamilton Sheriff Court heard that police discovered 4261 child abuse photos and videos on devices belonging to the 27-year-old. Easton, who resides in Kilfinan Place, Shotts, admitted to downloading indecent images at multiple locations and sharing images with another paedophile. Additionally, he confessed to coercing a young girl into performing sexual acts and sending him explicit material, as well as sending her nude images of himself.
The court learned that Easton began pressuring the girl for photos in 2020, and this continued for three years until his arrest in September 2023. Upon receiving a tip-off about his activities, the police raided his home and seized several devices, where they discovered a disturbing collection of 2272 videos, including images of babies and very young children in abusive situations. The authorities also uncovered numerous chat logs between Easton and other paedophiles. Furthermore, a folder labelled ‘Private’ was found to contain photos of the girl he had been exchanging images with for over three years.
The victim revealed to the police that she felt uneasy about sending material to Easton, but he persisted even after she blocked him on social media. Easton, now residing in Garrion Street, Wishaw, has been placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely and is subject to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.
