The gang reportedly attacked Blenham House Care Home on Sighthill Court before midnight on Wednesday, December 4. They were said to have pulled curtains through windows and kicked doors, causing distress to the elderly residents living there. Fearing for the residents’ safety, the police were called to the scene.
The operator of the care home, Randolph Hill, condemned the incident, stating that such behaviour will not be tolerated as the home is meant to be a safe space for its residents. Images from the aftermath show damage including pulled curtains, uprooted plants, and a smashed doorbell, indicating the extent of the vandalism. Staff members also reported that the group was loud and disruptive, further upsetting the residents.
Mandy Rogers, Senior Manager at Blenham House Care Home, expressed concern over the safety and security of the residents, emphasizing that additional security measures have been put in place.
