A woman’s frightening ordeal of being trapped in quicksand has sparked a desperate search operation by the Coastguard in the Solway Firth. The search, currently underway off the coast of Powfoot in Dumfries and Galloway, was initiated after the woman was feared to have been washed away into the Solway Firth. The incident unfolded on Monday evening when the woman, believed to be visiting from the Isle of Man and staying at a nearby campsite, found herself stuck in quicksand and dialed 999 for help around 5pm, with high tide approaching shortly afterwards.
