The Kirkcudbright and Gatehouse Probus Club recently hosted their annual ladies’ luncheon at the Selkirk Arms, marking a festive end to the year. Members and esteemed guests gathered for a delightful three-course meal with a Christmas twist. The event also saw the club extend invitations to guests from similar organisations, fostering friendships and camaraderie among attendees.
Among the honoured guests were the president of Kirkcudbright Rotary Club, John Locke, along with Jan Locke, and the chairman of Newton Stewart Probus Club, Bob Simpson, accompanied by Geraldine Simpson. The outgoing chairman, Malcolm Oldfield, welcomed everyone and expressed gratitude to the Selkirk Arms staff for their exceptional service throughout the year. As a gesture of appreciation, each lady was presented with a single rose.
The luncheon featured entertaining toasts and speeches, with David Preston delivering a lighthearted toast to the ladies, and Louise Finch charming the audience with a spirited reply. As the year draws to a close, the club extended warm wishes for a joyous Christmas and a prosperous New Year to the community and beyond, emphasising the importance of cherishing moments with loved ones and supporting those in need.
