Members of the Stewartry Federation were entertained recently with a fun-filled day of bowling and quiz competitions. The annual quiz brought together 18 teams from across the Stewartry, with Federation vice-president Christine Whipp and Carol Bryden acting as quiz masters. After six rounds covering various subjects, the team from Haugh of Urr emerged victorious, with Lochrutton coming in second and Rhonehouse in third after a tie-break finish. The participants then enjoyed a delightful tea of mince pies and shortbread, followed by prize presentations by Lesley Malcolmson.
Meanwhile, the annual carpet bowling competition took place at Castle Douglas Bowlers’ Hall, featuring six teams from around the Stewartry. Townhead claimed the top spot with 7 points and 32 shots, followed by Haugh of Urr 2 with 6 points and 30 shots, and Carsphairn with 6 points and 24 shots. Stewartry Federation President Mrs Lesley Malcolmson presented the trophy to the winning team.
The day was filled with friendly competition, camaraderie, and enjoyment for all participants. From showcasing their knowledge in the quiz to demonstrating their bowling skills, the Stewartry Federation members had a memorable and entertaining experience.
