Morrison’s Falkirk petrol station can now sell alcohol under new ownership

Morrisons’ Falkirk petrol station, now under new ownership, has been granted a licence to sell alcohol. The petrol station, located in Hope Street, Falkirk, was one of over 300 forecourts that were acquired by Motor Fuel Group from the supermarket chain earlier this year.

The solicitor representing Motor Fuel Group, Andrew Hunter, informed the Falkirk Council’s Licensing Board that the group took over the service station in August and undertook renovations. Operating from 6 am to 10 pm, the shop will offer general groceries, fuel, and alcohol sales between 10 am and 10 pm, along with a home delivery service.

The station will trade as Morrisons Motor Fuel, allowing customers to collect loyalty points from the supermarket chain but not redeem them. Motor Fuel Group, an experienced national operator, already manages several other sites in the Falkirk area, including in Kincardine, Carronside, and Polmont.

The Licensing Board approved the application with standard conditions such as CCTV and an electronic sales system. This move opens up new opportunities for customers in Falkirk to access a wider range of products and services at the petrol station.

In recent months, there has been an increase in acquisitions and changes in ownership within the petrol and convenience store sector, reflecting the shifting dynamics and competitiveness in the industry. Customers can now look forward to a revamped experience at the Falkirk petrol station under its new ownership.

As the petrol station transitions into a new phase under Motor Fuel Group, it will be interesting to see how this change impacts the local community and consumer experience. With increased convenience and product offerings, customers may benefit from a more diverse range of options when visiting the station for their fuel and grocery needs. This development highlights the ongoing evolution and adaptation within the retail and petrol station sectors to meet changing consumer demands and preferences.
