They had left their home in Govanhill, Glasgow, at 4 am on March 29, four hours ahead of their scheduled departure with Qatar Airways.
Mr. Kumar explained that they were the first passengers at the check-in desk, and staff claimed Anita’s passport was damaged because it had scribbles on it from their daughter. Despite having all necessary documents and proofs, including photo ID, the family was informed that Anita would not be allowed to travel due to the damaged passport. According to UK Government guidelines, a damaged passport must be replaced, and travelers may be refused to board if the passport is deemed damaged.
