Stonehouse School Receives Generous Funding for New Laptops
Newfield Primary School in Stonehouse has recently been awarded almost £6,500 from a nearby wind farm to acquire new laptops for the students. This funding, provided by OnPath Energy’s (formerly Banks Renewables) Kype Muir Community Partnership (KMCP), has allowed the school to purchase 30 high-quality laptops to enhance students’ learning experiences.
The KMCP, representing five local community council areas near the Kype Muir Wind Farm, ensures that each community benefits from the wind farm revenues to address specific local issues and invest in the area. The laptops donated to Newfield Primary School aim to support independent learning among pupils, boosting their confidence and skills.
Denise Corke, deputy head teacher at Newfield Primary, expressed gratitude for the donation, highlighting the positive impact the laptops will have on the students for years to come. The laptops will offer new opportunities for learning and growth, enriching the educational experience at the school.
Situated just south of Strathaven, Kype Muir Wind Farm is a significant project by OnPath Energy, featuring 26 turbines. The completion of Kype Muir Wind Farm Extension earlier this year further contributes to the community benefits package, providing over £21 million over the lifetime of both projects.
Robin Winstanley, director of sustainability and community at OnPath Energy, emphasised the importance of supporting education through initiatives like the KMCP fund. The commitment to community engagement and sustainable development continues to make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals and communities near the wind farm.
The laptops donated to Newfield Primary School are part of the broader efforts to enhance educational opportunities for young people. The positive impact of such initiatives underscores the significant role that community partnerships play in supporting local schools and empowering students.
In conclusion, the generous funding provided by OnPath Energy’s Kype Muir Community Partnership to Newfield Primary School highlights the positive impact of community collaborations on education. By investing in resources that enhance learning experiences, such partnerships contribute to the holistic development of students and the local community. The initiative serves as a testament to the power of collective efforts in fostering educational excellence and empowering future generations.
