An urgent search is underway to locate a 40-year-old man who went missing while skiing alone in the Cairngorms. Sam Burns was last heard from by his friends on Friday, December 13th, around 11:30 am when he was skiing solo in the Cairngorms mountain range. Despite this, he has not returned to his van parked at the Cairngorm Mountain car park.
Authorities from Police Scotland are appealing for any information that could help trace Sam, who ventured out in freezing temperatures. He is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, with short brown hair, a slim build, and is believed to be wearing a bright blue or bright orange jacket along with a ski helmet.
Inspector Craig Johnstone expressed growing concerns for Sam’s safety and urged anyone who was in the Cairngorm Plateau or Loch Avon Basin on December 13, 2024, and may have seen Sam to come forward. Additionally, individuals with information on Sam’s whereabouts are encouraged to contact Police Scotland at 101, quoting incident 3438 dated December 13, 2024.
