Woman laughed as dad stabbed man ‘up to the hilt’ outside nightclub

A shocking incident outside a nightclub involving a father and daughter has left a man with life-threatening injuries after a brutal stabbing attack. Charlotte McQuade, 21, was captured on CCTV laughing as her father, Conor, 44, sneaked up behind Lewis Reed and viciously stabbed him multiple times outside The Hub nightclub in an act of revenge. The attack occurred at around 2am on New Year’s Day, following an allegation made by Charlotte against Mr. Reed in 2020, which he denied and no action was taken against him.

Conor McQuade pleaded guilty to assault causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of blades in a public place. On the other hand, Charlotte McQuade denied a similar charge but was found guilty after a trial. The court heard a victim statement on Mr. Reed’s behalf, where he described the longstanding harassment he had endured from Charlotte, leading up to the violent attack outside the nightclub.

The court proceedings revealed that Charlotte had alerted her father after spotting Mr. Reed inside the nightclub, prompting Conor to arm himself with knives and coordinate the attack with his daughter. As Mr. Reed stood outside smoking, Conor approached him from behind and stabbed him in the back, followed by two more stabbings in the abdomen. The victim was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries to his kidneys and bowel.

During sentencing, the judge remarked that both father and daughter harbored a deep grudge against Mr. Reed and took matters into their own hands due to their perceived injustice. The attack in January 2024 was not the first instance of violence against Mr. Reed, as there was a previous altercation in August 2023. The court also heard about Charlotte’s turbulent upbringing and mental health struggles, while Conor expressed remorse for his actions and efforts to address his substance abuse issues.

In their defence, Charlotte was portrayed as vulnerable and easily influenced due to her traumatic past, while Conor’s intoxication was cited as a contributing factor to his behaviour. Despite their personal challenges, the severity of the attack and its consequences were condemned by the judge during sentencing.

This disturbing incident serves as a stark reminder of the repercussions of unresolved conflicts and the devastating impact of resorting to violence. Such actions not only inflict physical harm but also leave lasting emotional scars on all parties involved. It underscores the importance of seeking constructive and peaceful resolutions to grievances, rather than escalating conflicts to such drastic and harmful extremes.

In conclusion, the court case sheds light on the complexities of human behaviour, the repercussions of unresolved anger, and the critical need for effective interventions to address underlying issues that may lead to violence. The rehabilitation and support of individuals with troubled backgrounds are crucial in preventing further incidents of aggression and harm in society.
