Man avoids jail after receiving child abuse images from paedophile linked to Huw Edwards
Jac Davies, 25, has been spared jail after pleading guilty to possessing indecent images of children and Class A drugs. The Leeds Magistrates’ Court heard that Davies was investigated by South Wales Police in connection to Alex Williams, who had shared similar material with former BBC newsreader Huw Edwards. Williams and Edwards had been sentenced previously, with Edwards receiving a suspended sentence for his involvement in indecent images.
Davies’ defence argued for a suspended sentence, citing the need for parity with Edwards’ case, as both individuals had no previous convictions. Police found 84 indecent images on Davies’ devices, including category A images involving babies and young boys. A Telegram chat revealed disturbing conversations about harming newborns. Additionally, Davies was charged with possession of Class A drugs.
During the court proceedings, it was mentioned that Davies may have been a victim of sexual exploitation himself. Despite his difficult background, Davies showed remorse and understanding of his actions. In addition to the suspended sentence, he was ordered to attend a sexual offending group work programme and comply with rehabilitation activity requirements. He is also prohibited from unsupervised contact with children under 16 and will be on the sex offenders’ register for a decade.
