Motherwell and Wishaw MP Pamela Nash expressed her gratitude towards local postal workers during their busiest time of the year. Nash visited the Motherwell Delivery Office to personally thank the postal workers for their hard work and dedication, especially during the Christmas season when the volume of letters and parcels doubles. With around 75 people working tirelessly every day in Motherwell to ensure the mail is delivered, Nash got a firsthand look at the dedication and effort put in by the postal workers.
During her visit, Nash also met with Lead Customer Operations Manager Stewart Donaldson and CWU representative Jim McKinstry to discuss Royal Mail’s strategy for handling the increased volume of parcels and letters during the festive period. The discussions revolved around making the process of sending and receiving parcels as convenient as possible for customers while addressing the challenges faced by the postal workers.
Royal Mail prepares all year round for the Christmas period, recruiting temporary workers and enhancing its fleet to meet the increased demand. In the local area, the Motherwell Delivery Office has hired new recruits and additional vehicles to cope with the surge in deliveries. Nash highlighted the importance of appreciating the hard work of postal workers, stating that Christmas wouldn’t be the same without their service.
