A man who had been arrested and questioned in connection with the murder of missing child Kyran Durnin has been found dead, as reported by Dublin Live. Maguire had been questioned by police last week regarding the unexplained disappearance of 8-year-old Kyran and his suspected murder. However, the interviews with Maguire did not yield much information, as he remained silent throughout. Following a search of his property in Beechwood Drive, Drogheda, Co Louth, Maguire was released without charge.
Police had brought in forensic officers and a cadaver dog to search Maguire’s home for evidence, but no significant findings were made. Kyran Durnin went missing in August, and it is suspected that he may have died in 2022 at the age of six. A grandmother of Kyran, Rhonda Tyson, stated that she last saw the boy alive in August 28, when he disappeared along with his mother, leaving a note behind.
Maguire had a history with the police, including a court appearance in 2009 for assaulting a teenage girl. His recent arrest came after a young woman was also questioned and released without charge in connection with Kyran’s case.
