Lanarkshire Locals Commended for Involvement in Blythswood Care’s Shoe Box Appeal
Locals in Lanarkshire have been praised for their significant contribution to the success of Blythswood Care’s 2024 Shoe Box Appeal, which has seen over 85,000 boxes sent to eight countries in Eastern Europe. Chief executive Jeremy Ross expressed his gratitude towards the community, highlighting the generosity shown towards those in need during challenging times.
This year’s appeal saw a notable portion of the boxes being sent to Ukraine, with a total of more than 31,000 boxes distributed to various cities including Ternopil, Kyiv, Uzhhorod, and Odesa. Jeremy emphasized the impactful nature of the initiative, recounting the harrowing experiences of families living in areas affected by conflict and instability.
Additionally, boxes were also dispatched to Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Kosovo, Moldova, Romania, and Serbia, each containing essential items like sweets, toiletries, stationery, and clothing. The act of wrapping these gifts and sending them off symbolizes a gesture of goodwill and compassion towards those less fortunate.
