Happy days as thousands of Christmas gifts donated to help children and families in Cambuslang and Rutherglen

In Cambuslang and Rutherglen, the spirit of Christmas has been truly alive with thousands of generous donations pouring in to support children and families in need. The Healthy ‘n’ Happy Community Development Trust received over 2500 brand new gifts for their gift appeal this year, thanks to the kindness of local residents and businesses.

Volunteers at the shop unit in Rutherglen Exchange Shopping Centre have been hard at work sorting through the donations, ensuring that each gift finds its way to a deserving recipient. Jan Taylor and Janice Fountain from the Healthy ‘n’ Happy team have been diligently organising the gifts, which range from presents for young children to older residents.

Requests for gifts were taken online, and the team at Healthy ‘n’ Happy made sure to tailor each gift bag to suit the recipient. Rather than wrapping the gifts themselves, the team provided wrapping paper and tape so that parents and guardians can be fully involved in the Christmas process.

Lesley McGinty, a representative from the Healthy ‘n’ Happy Community Development Trust, expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming response to the gift appeal. She highlighted the positive impact of the donations, mentioning that around 650 local residents in CamGlen will benefit from this act of kindness, ensuring a brighter Christmas for them and their families.

The community spirit displayed through these donations truly showcases the generosity and kindness present in Cambuslang and Rutherglen. It is heartwarming to see the community coming together to support those in need during the festive season.

This initiative by the Healthy ‘n’ Happy Community Development Trust is a wonderful example of how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in the lives of others. It serves as a reminder of the importance of giving back to the community and spreading joy during the holiday season.
