Brazen thieves steal Mercedes from driveway and load it on to flatbed truck

Thieves have recently carried out a daring heist in Armadale, West Lothian, by stealing a Mercedes GLC from a driveway and loading it onto a flatbed truck. The theft of the white Mercedes GLC 250D 4Matic SE AUT, with registration MK16 UAV, occurred on Baird Road around 6pm on Wednesday, January 8. Investigations suggest that the car was stolen through keyless theft and placed onto a white Ford flatbed truck with two black stripes on the bonnet. The flatbed truck had no registration plates and was spotted in the area shortly after 5pm on the same day. Additionally, two individuals wearing hi-viz clothing were seen in the vicinity around the time of the theft.

Police have urged the public to come forward with any information that could assist in the investigation. They are particularly interested in private CCTV and dash-cam footage that may have captured suspicious activities related to the theft. The flatbed truck, carrying the stolen Mercedes, was reportedly driven along Bridgecastle Road towards Armadale Cross after the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson stated, “Although it was dark, it was still early and the area was busy with traffic. We are asking people to think back, did you see anything suspicious? If so, please get in touch.” They further encouraged anyone with relevant details to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0710 of Thursday, 9 January 2025.
