Cancer survivor shares four ‘unhealthy’ foods she still eats but with healthy twist

Cancer survivor Michelle Patidar, who is also a certified nutrition health coach, has recently shared her take on four ‘unhealthy’ foods that she still enjoys, but with a healthy twist. In a bid to help fellow cancer survivors and anyone aiming for a healthier lifestyle, she swapped traditional options for more nutritious alternatives. Through a series of Instagram posts, Michelle revealed her tips and tricks for making pasta, baked goods, pancakes, crisps, and even hot chocolate healthier.

She emphasised the importance of choosing organic red lentil pasta over regular wheat pasta for added fibre and protein with fewer toxins. Michelle’s love for baked goods led her to experiment with almond and coconut flour, pumpkin puree, and fresh herbs to create healthier muffins. Pancakes, a family favourite, were transformed into gluten-free versions with the addition of ground flax seed, basil seeds, and various flavourings like cinnamon and vanilla. Even crisps were not left out, with Michelle opting for brands that use simple ingredients and healthier oils like avocado or olive oil.

Michelle’s Instagram reel showcasing these food swaps received a positive response, gaining over 445,000 views, 1,545 likes, and nearly 900 comments. Her followers appreciated her practical advice and some even shared their own health journeys and healthy recipes. Michelle’s personal experience with cancer led her to establish Revival Health and Wellness, aiming to support others in their recovery from illness.

As per the NHS guidelines, maintaining a healthy, balanced diet is essential for overall well-being, recommending a diverse range of foods in appropriate portions, including fruits, vegetables, starchy foods, dairy or alternatives, protein sources, and plenty of fluids. Michelle’s innovative food swaps demonstrate that with a few simple changes, indulging in ‘unhealthy’ foods can still align with a healthy lifestyle.

In conclusion, Michelle Patidar’s story is not only about overcoming cancer but also about embracing a nutritious approach to food that can benefit everyone, not just cancer survivors. By making conscious choices and being creative with ingredient swaps, she shows that enjoying favourite treats can still be a part of a balanced and health-focused diet. Her journey of self-healing and proactive wellness serves as an inspiration to many on the path to better health and vitality.
