Series of road closures to impact traffic and travel in Monklands

A series of road closures are set to impact traffic and travel in Monklands in the coming months, causing disruptions for motorists in the area. Drivers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid potential delays caused by these roadworks.

On January 22, Luggieburn Walk in Coatbridge will be closed all day for ironwork repairs between property 19 and the Dundyvan Road roundabout. Unfortunately, no diversions will be available during this closure, so motorists are urged to find alternate routes to reach their destinations.

From January 27, Albany Street in Coatbridge will be closed for five days for the replacement of an underground gas apparatus by SGN. Motorists can take diverted routes via Blair Road, Lefroy Street, and Torrisdale Street during this period. Additionally, Gartgill Road in Coatbridge will be shut for three days starting January 27 for carriageway resurfacing works on behalf of the council. Alternative routes include Blair Road, A89 Bank Street, B753 Dundyvan Road, A725 Coatbank Street, and B803 Dunbeth Road.

Scottish Power works will lead to the closure of Nelson Avenue in Coatbridge from January 30 to February 12. Diverted routes through Culzean Avenue and Kirkwood Place will be in place during this time. Carriageway resurfacing will also see Langmuir Way in Bargeddie closed for 24 hours from February 8, with pedestrian access permitted where practical.

Finally, in Glenmavis, Windsor Drive will be closed from February 3-28 for Scottish Water works. Motorists are advised to follow the displayed signs and plan their routes accordingly during this closure.

These road closures are essential for maintenance and improvement works in Monklands, and while they may cause inconvenience to commuters, they are crucial for ensuring the safety and functionality of the roads in the area. Drivers are encouraged to stay informed about the closures and plan alternative routes to minimise disruptions to their journeys.

In summary, Monklands will experience a series of road closures in the coming months, with diversions available for some closures to help mitigate traffic disruptions. It is important for motorists to plan ahead and follow designated routes to navigate through the affected areas smoothly and safely.
