Twisted Thug Ryan Wellings Receives Jail Sentence for Abusing Partner Kiena Dawes Leading to Her Tragic Suicide
Ryan Wellings, a 30-year old man, has been sentenced to six and a half years in prison after being found guilty of assault and coercive and controlling behaviour towards his former fiancée, Kiena Dawes. The verdict came after a six-week trial at Preston Crown Court, where harrowing details of the abuse endured by Kiena, 23, over a two-year period were revealed.
Although Wellings was acquitted of Kiena’s manslaughter, evidence presented to the court outlined a prolonged campaign of abuse that culminated in Kiena taking her own life in July 2022. In a poignant suicide note left on her phone at a friend’s residence, the young hairdresser explicitly accused Wellings of being responsible for her death, stating that she felt “murdered” by him. The tragic incident occurred when Kiena was found dead on a railway track near Garstang, Lancashire.
Following the sentencing, Kiena’s family and friends expressed relief that justice had been served, hoping that her story would raise awareness about the serious consequences of domestic abuse. Wellings’ actions were condemned by the court, with the judge highlighting the devastating impact of his behaviour on Kiena’s mental health and well-being.
The case has sparked discussions about the urgent need for better support and protection for victims of domestic violence, with calls for increased awareness, education, and resources to prevent similar tragedies in the future. Campaigners and support groups have emphasised the importance of speaking out against abuse, seeking help, and breaking the cycle of silence and fear that often surrounds such situations.
As the community reflects on this heartbreaking case, it serves as a stark reminder of the vital role that society plays in addressing and preventing domestic abuse. By standing together, raising our voices, and supporting those in need, we can create a safer and more compassionate world for all.
