Eight-year-old Noah Gajos, a brave young boy from Easterhouse, Glasgow, is battling multiple critical medical conditions that have left him fighting for his life. Noah has been in hospital for 17 months, receiving treatment at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital after spending 14 months at Glasgow’s Royal Hospital for Children. From birth, Noah was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, Dandy Walker syndrome, holoprosencephaly, encephalopathy, VACTERL-H, and epilepsy, presenting a complex set of challenges for his medical team.
Noah’s health took a significant turn for the worse in August 2023, leading to his admission to the hospital in Glasgow. In October of the same year, he was transferred to London, where he has since undergone multiple surgeries including three brain surgeries and one abdominal surgery. Despite initial hopes of a quick return home after six weeks, Noah’s condition has required an extended stay in London with more surgeries planned for the future.
The Gajos family has been enduring immense hardship through this challenging time, with Noah’s mother, Marta, by his side in London while his father and siblings remain in Glasgow. The separation has taken a toll on the family, emotionally and financially, as Noah’s father had to reduce his work hours to care for the other children, leaving the family struggling to make ends meet.
Marta has shared the family’s story on a GoFundMe page to help ease the financial burden of her extended stay in London, expressing gratitude for any support in reuniting her family and providing the best care for Noah. The family remains hopeful for Noah’s recovery and a return home to Glasgow, where they can find some sense of normality after a prolonged period of hospitalisation.
