A significant portion of a key road in Dumfries and Galloway is due to undergo resurfacing work, with a full weekend closure planned. The A75 near Eastriggs will be shut for an entire weekend, alongside overnight closures, as maintenance company Amey carries out the necessary repairs on behalf of Transport Scotland.
The resurfacing project is scheduled to kick off with a complete closure from 8 pm on Friday, January 31, until 6 am on Monday, February 3. Subsequently, there will be overnight closures on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of that week. An Amey spokeswoman highlighted that safety remains a top priority during road maintenance planning. Due to insufficient road widths that do not meet safety standards for a convoy system, a full closure of the A75 trunk road is inevitable for the extensive treatment to be conducted.
During the closures, eastbound traffic will be rerouted via the B6357 Stapleton Road after Annan, onto the B721 through Eastriggs, eventually rejoining the A75 west of Gretna. Conversely, westbound vehicles will follow the same diversion route in reverse.
