Michelle Mone branded liar in explosive TV documentary over £200m PPE scandal

Bra tycoon Michelle Mone faces harsh criticism in a controversial TV documentary uncovering her involvement in a £203 million PPE scandal. Michelle Mone and her husband, Doug Barrowman, are under investigation by the National Crime Agency for their role in a deal to supply NHS equipment during the pandemic. Allegations suggest that Mone used her House of Lords position to exploit a “VIP fast lane” to recommend PPE Medpro, a company led by her husband, for government contracts. Despite denying her association with the company for three years, Mone later admitted to misleading journalists in a televised interview.

Barrowman has reportedly profited £65 million from supplying face masks and surgical gowns, with £29 million allegedly benefiting Mone and her children through a trust fund. The documentary, “The Michelle Mone Scandal: Where Did Our Money Go?”, features former colleagues and government officials accusing Mone of a history of dishonesty. The Glasgow-born peer is accused of leveraging her political connections to secure lucrative contracts for PPE Medpro without transparently disclosing her interests.

The scandal further unravels as the government sues PPE Medpro for £122 million due to alleged contract breaches concerning substandard surgical gowns. Despite living on the Isle of Man, Mone and Barrowman have had £75 million in assets seized, including properties in Glasgow. The couple vehemently denies any wrongdoing. The programme also sheds light on Mone’s past dubious claims, such as falsely asserting that Julia Roberts wore her bra design in a movie and implying that Albert Einstein once resided in her Glasgow home.

Adding to the controversy, Rod Stewart reportedly referred to Mone as “a manipulative cow”. PR consultant Jack Irvine, who previously worked with Mone, highlighted her strong drive for wealth and fame. Responding to mounting public criticism, a spokesperson for Mone and Barrowman accused the previous government of orchestrating a targeted legal attack against them through the National Crime Agency in light of COVID-19 response criticisms.

In summary, the documentary exposes Michelle Mone’s alleged deception and misuse of influence in lucrative PPE contracts, raising serious questions about ethics and integrity in public service and business dealings.
