Southport Knife Attacker Allegedly Planned School Massacre a Week before Stabbings
Axel Rudakubana, the perpetrator behind the horrific stabbings in Southport, is believed to have been plotting a massacre at his former school just days before the tragic incident where he murdered three young girls. The 18-year-old confessed to the murders of Alice da Silva Aguiar, Bebe King, and Elsie Dot Stancombe on the supposed first day of his trial. Rudakubana was 17 when he carried out the knife attacks during a Taylor Swift-themed dance event at Southport’s Hart Space.
It is reported that Rudakubana ordered a taxi to take him to Range High School in Formby, Merseyside, on July 22, a week prior to the stabbings. However, his father, Alphonse, intervened and prevented the taxi driver from completing the journey. The teen, dressed in a green hooded sweatshirt and surgical mask, the same attire he wore during the killings, was eventually persuaded to leave the vehicle following a confrontation.
Rudakubana, diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, had a history of disturbing incidents during his time as a pupil at the school, including carrying a blade, attacking pupils with a hockey stick, and attempting to assault a teacher. The families of the victims were not present in court when Rudakubana entered his guilty pleas for the unspeakable crimes he committed.
Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor Ursula Doyle labelled the attack as “unspeakable” and noted Rudakubana’s disturbing interest in death and violence without displaying any remorse. The sentencing, expected to be a life order, is set for Thursday. Southport MP Patrick Hurley expressed that the town will never be the same following the tragic events that unfolded, expressing hope for justice for the victims’ families.
