**Overnight Diversions in Perth City as Inspection Work on Friarton Bridge Commences**
Four weeks of overnight carriageway closures are set to be in place on Perth’s Friarton Bridge starting from Monday, January 20. This maintenance work will focus on examining the 45-year-old structure which carries the A90 trunk road over the River Tay. The closures, ending on Saturday, February 15, will necessitate diversions through Perth.
Conducted by Amey on behalf of Transport Scotland, the routine inspections aim to assess the current condition of the bridge. The closure schedule includes the northbound carriageway being shut on weeknights only (Monday to Friday) from 8 pm to 6 am between January 20 and 31. Following this, the southbound carriageway will be closed during the same hours from February 3 to 14.
During the overnight closures, diversions will be signposted for drivers. For the northbound closure, traffic will be redirected via M90 Junction 10 to Broxden Roundabout, then instructed to follow the A93 Glasgow Road to South Street and Queen’s Bridge. For the southbound closure, vehicles can exit the M90 at Junction 11, proceed via A85 to Queen’s Bridge, and continue on A989 to rejoin the M90 southbound at Broxden Roundabout.
