Animal abuser Rafal Bednarek, 49, has been handed a one-year ban from keeping pets after being found guilty of ill-treating a dog and six puppies in his East Kilbride home in Scotland. Bednarek appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court where he also received a sentence of 135 hours of unpaid community work.
Animal welfare officers discovered the animals confined in a cage at Bednarek’s home on Germiston Crescent on August 3 last year. The puppies were found in a cage that was deemed too small, with no means of escape provided. Bednarek admitted to failing to provide the animals with a suitable environment, adequate food, and water. He also confessed to grabbing one puppy by the neck and slamming it on the floor.
In addition to the animal cruelty charges, Bednarek pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to take a breath test at Motherwell police station on the same day, resulting in a driving ban for one year. The severity of the abuse led to the court’s decision to ban Bednarek from keeping pets for a year and compel him to undertake community work as punishment.
