Dobbies Little Seedlings Club to Return to Livingston Store in February
Dobbies Garden Centres’ popular Little Seedlings Club and Grow How workshops are set to make a comeback in February at the Livingston store, welcoming gardeners and families to partake in these hands-on and free sessions. The workshops cater to individuals of all ages and skill levels, whether seasoned experts, novices, or those venturing into a new hobby.
The well-liked Grow How workshops by Dobbies will be held on Saturday, February 1, and Wednesday, February 5, at 10.30am and 3.30pm at the Livingston store, focusing on the cultivation of tomatoes. Participants can anticipate delving into the history of this beloved fruit, as well as receiving guidance on nurturing and tending to tomato plants. Attendees will also have the opportunity to sample different varieties and learn about the most popular types cultivated in the UK, such as Gardeners Delight, Money Maker, and Alicante.
Moreover, the Dobbies Little Seedlings Club, tailored for children aged 4-10, is scheduled for Sunday, February 2. Young aspiring gardeners will be guided by Dobbies’ staff through the realm of tomatoes, exploring the origins of this widely cherished fruit, dispelling myths about fruits and vegetables, and engaging in entertaining and educational activities. The workshop will cover growing tomatoes, caring for them on windowsills, interesting facts, and various tomato varieties and flavors.
In addition to these workshops, Dobbies will also reintroduce the Little Seedlings Holiday Club during half term in February. This event will focus on flowers, educating children on the origins and diversity of flowers, their significance as gifts, and highlighting the rose as a popular gifting flower.
Nigel Lawton, Dobbies’ Plant Buyer, expressed, “There is something particularly rewarding about enjoying fruit and vegetables that have been grown at home, and these workshops are designed to make the activity accessible to all.” He encouraged children to participate in the fun and informative activities at the Little Seedlings Holiday Club.
