**Joe Wicks Boosts Health and Fitness at Scots Primary School**
Renowned fitness guru Joe Wicks made a special visit to Dunbar Primary School in East Lothian, Scotland, to participate in a fitness class with the pupils. The visit was part of Asda’s Cashpot for Schools initiative, where the retailer donated a portion of customers’ shopping to schools. The campaign, launched in September 2024, raised over £5.7 million for nearly 22,000 schools in the UK, with Dunbar Primary School being the top fundraiser in East Lothian.
During the visit, Joe Wicks surprised the school by presenting them with a cheque for £4,215.88, which will go towards upgrading playgrounds at both their campuses. The children at Dunbar Primary School were thrilled to meet Joe Wicks, also known as The Body Coach, and engage in fitness activities with him. This initiative highlights Joe’s commitment to supporting schools through sports and experiences, aligning with Asda’s goal of assisting families regardless of their budget.
Teachers in Scotland have welcomed the Cashpot for Schools campaign, with 63% expressing that insufficient funding has impacted learning and student experiences. The funding raised through the initiative will address various needs in schools, such as school trips, sports equipment, and learning materials. Joe Wicks emphasised the importance of investing in young minds and the positive impact of such funding on children’s well-being and education.
Deputy Head Teacher Emma Grierson expressed the excitement of hosting Joe Wicks at the school and the joy among children and teachers to receive the donation. Annette Newell, Community Champion at Asda Dunbar, highlighted the positive impact of the partnership on the dedicated school and community. The initiative not only supports schools financially but also promotes the importance of health and fitness among children.
