Nine-year-old Keir Johnstone-Little from Lesmahagow, Scotland, recently showed immense determination and heart by taking on a challenging fundraising event to support a charity that had helped his younger brother, Kai, who was born prematurely at 26 weeks and weighed only 750g. The charity in question, Crossbasket House (formerly Ronald McDonald House) in Glasgow, provides vital support and accommodation for families with children receiving treatment at hospitals.
Keir completed the tough 3km MacTuff Really Muddy challenge at Knockhill in Fife, raising an impressive £1,573 for the charity. The event was described as extremely challenging, with participants facing muddy and wet conditions, tunnels, nets, ropes, and even encounters with American Football players along the way.
Despite his young age, Keir has shown a remarkable sense of altruism and resilience. He plays football for Lesmahagow Community FC 2015’s team and has actively participated in other physical challenges. His dedication to fundraising for Crossbasket House showcases his compassionate nature and willingness to give back to an organization that supported his family during a turbulent time.
Keir’s parents, Tammy and Gary, also joined him in the event, reflecting the family’s strong bond and shared commitment to helping others. Keir’s fundraising efforts were not in vain, as he managed to raise a significant amount for Crossbasket House through support from family, friends, the community, and local businesses.
