A racist individual from Scotland, who shamefully mocked the tragic death of George Floyd in a distasteful Snapchat post, has been instructed to remain indoors for three months. Jordan McGhie, aged 30, shared a picture on Snapchat where he was seen kneeling on his friend’s neck in an attempt to replicate the horrific killing of George Floyd in the United States back in 2020. As a consequence of the public outrage sparked by his despicable post, McGhie was handed a three-month curfew by Dundee Sheriff Court. The image posted by McGhie was captioned ‘George Floyd challenge 2020’. However, McGhie admitted to failing to fulfil the 200 hours of unpaid work that he was initially mandated to complete.
Sheriff Harry Small, presiding over the case, stated, “You have failed twice to carry out the community payback order and unpaid work. Some punishment has to be imposed for this offence. I cannot impose custody if there is another alternative. There is an alternative, by way of a tag, so we will try that. This is the last chance saloon.” McGhie’s legal representative expressed his client’s willingness to do anything to avoid incarceration.
