Scottish Labour Member of Parliament (MP), Brian Leishman, has urged his party colleagues to support an SNP bill aimed at providing compensation to Waspi women affected by changes to the state pension age. The call comes ahead of SNP Westminster leader Stephen Flynn’s introduction of the Women’s State Pension age (Ombudsman report and compensation scheme) Bill to the House of Commons.
Leishman emphasised the importance of Labour MPs doing the right thing by the women born in the 1950s who have been impacted by the alterations to the state pension age.
