North Lanarkshire Council Emphasises Advantages of Complimentary Health Walks in the Region

The North Lanarkshire Council is encouraging locals to combat the winter blues by participating in free health walks in the vicinity. Various walks are organised in towns and villages around the area, offering a gentle pace suitable for all. A spokesperson from the council mentioned to Lanarkshire Live that the winter months can sometimes feel challenging but need not be so. They stated, “Come and join the free health walks. They are a great way to beat the winter blues, catch some much-needed daylight, and meet friendly folk while engaging in some light exercise.”

Being outdoors in the fresh air and surrounded by nature can significantly uplift one’s mood. These health walks are designed to be easy, lasting no more than an hour and moving at a gentle speed. Most groups usually gather for a cup of tea or coffee post-walk. The council advises interested individuals to look up walks in their locality and book their spot for the initial walk. In an effort to assist individuals with their New Year’s resolutions, a Big Wee Winter Stroll is scheduled at Brownsburn Local Nature Park in Airdrie on February 15, commencing at 1.30pm from Gartlea Community Centre. Booking in advance is mandatory.

These health walks offer a fantastic opportunity for residents to stay active, enjoy the outdoors, and socialize with others in their community. It’s a wonderful initiative by the council to promote physical activity and mental well-being during the colder months. Taking a step outside, breathing in the fresh air, and connecting with nature can have a profound impact on one’s overall health and happiness.

In summary, North Lanarkshire Council is encouraging locals to take advantage of the free health walks organised in the area as a means to stay active, beat the winter blues, and engage with the community. These walks provide a gentle and accessible way for individuals to enjoy the outdoors, boost their mood, and enhance their overall well-being during the winter season.
