Dumfries and Galloway’s Arts Sector Receives £2 Million Boost from Creative Scotland
Dumfries and Galloway’s cultural sector is celebrating a significant £2 million boost, thanks to Creative Scotland. The funding will be distributed over the next three years to support various arts organisations in the region.
Five organisations in Dumfries and Galloway are set to benefit from this funding injection. The Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival, Cample Line in Thornhill, The Glenkens Community and Arts Trust, The Stove Network in Dumfries, and The Wigtown Festival Company are among the recipients of this much-needed financial support.
Creative Scotland’s decision to provide long-term funding to these organisations comes as part of a broader initiative to bolster the cultural landscape in Scotland. Over 250 organisations across the country have received financial assistance totaling more than £200 million, thanks to increased funding from the Scottish Government.
Robert Wilson, Chairman of Creative Scotland, expressed his enthusiasm for the positive impact this funding will have on the cultural sector in Scotland. He highlighted the stability and certainty this funding brings to the organisations, enabling them to plan and execute artistic and creative projects effectively.
The largest funding award of £587,500 over three years goes to The Stove Network, followed by Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival with £545,380, The Wigtown Festival Company with £388,900, The Glenkens Community and Arts Trust with £359,088, and Cample Line with £219,891.
